when they knew each other for nearly eight years
(and) one may they knew each other not that bad
they suddenly came across to lose their love
like others lose a walking stick or hat
they felt quite sad behaved with a smile
tried their kissin' as if nothing was wrong
they looked each other didn't know how to continue
so she started to cry and he stood aside
from the window you could wave to the outgoing ship
he said it's about a quarter past four
(and) time to go out and get a coffee somewhere
someone played the piano next door
they went to the smallest cafe in town
and they stirred in their cups on and on
when the evening came up they were still sitting there
and they didn't find a word and they couldn't get aware

"sachliche romanze" ist eines der leider wenigen gedichte, das sich aus frühen schultagen einen festen platz im fundus der erinnerungen bewahren konnte. der wunsch, diesen text zu vertonen, erwuchs aus der beobachtung, dass ihn sofort jeder verstehen kann und darin liegt das schöne - oder das traurige ... - eigentlich sollte man zum trost hermann hesses "stufen" lesen, "wohlan denn herz, nimm abschied und gesunde!", oder nebenan klavier üben... ein herzliches dankeschön an die atrium verlag ag, zürich (ch) und den vertreter des erben von erich kästner für die wohlwollende prüfung unseres vorhabens und die erlaubnis zur übersetzung und vertonung. it´s grooving now.
